Map or Atlas
North America from the French of Mr. d'Anville Improved with the English Surveys Made since the Peace
Map showing the American colonies on the eve of the Revolutionary War. Cities, boundaries, regions, forts, Native American lands, mountains, lakes, and rivers are all shown. The borders of the Pennsylvania and the southern colonies are left open in the west, suggesting their expansion beyond the Appalachian mountains to the Mississippi River. A decorative frame encloses the title cartouche. |
