Civil War Tree
A large Bur Oak tree is shading a sign for Vesuvio's Little Italy restaurant on the corner of Washington and South 7th Street. Brick buildings across the street are along a wide sidewalk, and include a restaurant with outdoor seating. Another sign is near the tree on the left, and is facing the sidewalk. Not readable in the image, the sign reads: "Delavan Civil War volunteers assembled beneath this bur oak tree, for muster, 1861-1865, before boarding trains for the Union Army training camps." |
