Map or Atlas
A New Map of North America from the Latest Discoveries
Map of America and part of Canada including the borders of European claims after the French and Indian War. Cities, forts, Native American lands, rivers, lakes, and mountains are indicated. The regions are hand-painted, and small notations accompany most of the borders, explaining the treaties that established them. A floral border decorates the title cartouche. |

From the London Magazine, v. 32, Jan. 1763. Block of descriptive text on the back which reads: "In the annexed Map of North America, which is more distinct and correct than any hitherto published, that part which before the war indisputably belonged to Great Britain, is coloured red; that part which was possessed or pretended to, by the French, but by the late treaty yielded to us, is coloured green; that part which the French have still a title to, if Spain pleases to allow them any title, is coloured blue; and that part which indisputably belonged to Spain, but is now yielded to us, is coloured yellow." |
