Nouvelle Carte des Decouvertes Faites par des Vaisseaux Russiens aux Côtes Inconnues de l'Amerique Septentrionale Avec les Pais Adiacents
Map representing the northern Pacific Ocean along with north eastern Asia and western North America. The interior of Asia contains very detailed engravings of place names and topographical features, including mountains and trees. The interior of North America remains largely bare, save for several notes describing the discoveries and voyages of various explorers, and a few mountains along the coast. The starting point of the fictional Admiral Bartholomew De Fonte is marked. The explorations of Captain Bering and Captain Tschirikow are given particular prominence, as their routes stretch across the Pacific Ocean and the seas separating Russia from Alaska. |
