Portrait of Edgar Allen Poe

Cabinet card of a pastel drawing, formal portrait, waist-up, of Edgar Allen Poe. The drawing was created by Oscar Halling, a little known Baltimore artist in the 1860s. The photographs of the drawing were printed from copy negatives made and copyrighted in 1893 at the request of the Poe family. These prints were distributed at the Maryland Exhibit of the Chicago World’s Fair. The location of the original pastel drawing is unknown. |
