The routes of a few explorers are depicted and labeled, such as "Route de L'Aigle et de la Marie en 1739" in the Atlantic and "Route de Tchirikow et de L'Isle en 1741" in the Pacific. Descriptive text surrounds the map, entitled "De La Division du Gobe Terrestre." The oceans and islands are painted in black, but the land (with the exception of Europe and Africa) is left unpainted.
