The United States of North America, with the British & Spanish Territories According to the Treaty

The United States of North America, with the British & Spanish Territories According to the Treaty | Map or Atlas | Wisconsin Historical Society
This map is hand-colored and shows the boundaries of British, Spanish, and the newly recognized American claims, as well as the fishing rights granted to France off the coast of Newfoundland. The boundary of Quebec extends far south to the Ohio River. Faden labels cities, lakes, rivers, mountains, Native American tribes, and various other topographical features. A few notes are included throughout the map, such as one showing the extent to which the Mississippi has been traversed, another indicating "extensive meadows full of buffaloes," and another reading "country full of mines." Above the cartouche sits a color reference guide along with two notes. The cartouche is elaborately decorated, featuring houses on top of a waterfall with palm trees, leading down to a scene of British merchants and slaves loading a canoe, with a port city and large ships in the background to the right.
