Le Canada ou Partie de la Nouvelle France: Contenant la Terre de Labrador, la Nouvelle France, les Isles de Terre Neuve, de Nostre Dame &c
This sea chart and topographical map depicts the north east coast of Canada and North America, focusing on the Hudson Bay and Great Lakes regions. It shows nautical features, rhumb lines from two compass roses and four other different points, mountains, lakes, rivers, and a few forts and owns. Mortier includes a few blocks of descriptive text throughout the map, and several scales in the upper left corner. The various regions are hand-painted, making this a particularly colorful version of Mortier's map. The engravings of the mountainous regions are intricate, especially since they are mostly unlabeled. |
