Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Marker

Participants in the dedication ceremony of the Laura Ingalls Wilder historical marker in Pepin, Wilder's birthplace, included, from left to right, Miss Eleanor Sanford, vice-president of the LaCrosse Historical Society, Mrs. William Laux, children's librarian at the LaCrosse public library, Harold Lunde, Pepin school administrator, Miss Reba Wakefield, retired librarian from St. Paul, and Mrs. Jesse Jahnke, Pepin librarian. Miss Wakefield, as a friend of Wilder's, was instrumental in bringing awareness to the importance and impact of Wilder as an author and to the preparation of the historical marker itself. |
