Chief Ernest Oshkosh
Waist-up seated studio portrait of Ernest Oshkosh (?1875-1929), grandson of Chief Oshkosh, son of Neopit. He is wearing a cap, bib overalls, and a striped work shirt. Ernest Oshkosh was a Menominee chief and agency farmer at Keshena from 1912 until his death in 1929. He worked closely with University of Wisconsin Extension administrator Joseph Wojta to improve agricultural practices of Native Americans in Wisconsin through education. |
