9XM-WHA Radio Historic Marker
The family of Professor Earle M. Terry and C.M. Jansky, Jr. honor Professor Terry with the C.M. Jansky award at the dedication of the historical marker documenting his successful experiment in wireless broadcasting. Terry's son, Dr. Melvin Terry (left), his daughter, Dr. Dorothy Terry, assistant professor of Psychology at Yale University (middle), and his widow Mrs. Sadie Terry-Gage (right) stand with C.M. Jansky, Jr. (far right) and receive the award. The historical marker was originally located near the Science Hall on the UW Madison campus, where the original experiment took place, but with the relocation of the WHA radio station to the Vilas Communication Hall, the marker moved to the new home of the radio station. |
