Opening Day Fishing Season - Fish Tips

Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing of a fisherman embracing a trophy Muskelunge (Muskie), while holding his fishing rod. A sign near the fishing rod reads: "Fish Tips." This drawing appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 23, 1963 with Sid's poem: "The passions of life are fleeting, but the love that last for all time, is the dream of an angler's trophy, caught on your own hook and line." |

Sid Boyum created a first day fishing poster annually 1963-1989 to promote the opening of the season. The poster would run in the Capital Times and the Wisconsin State Journal. In exchange, Sid would receive copies of the print to distribute on his own. For a composite reproduction of this image on one of Sid's greeting cards, see PH 6986G Box 5, Folder 2. |
