Opening Day Fishing Season

Opening Day Fishing Season | Drawing | Wisconsin Historical Society
Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing of a view from a riverbank of a fly fisherman in hip waders, who is standing in a stream while hooking a bass. The fish is leaping out of the water with a large splash and a spinner in its mouth. This drawing appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 7, 1964 with the caption, "Scene on Lower Grant River Near the Mississippi where Art Butterfield landed Big Bass last Season" and Sid's poem:
"Where the Mud Banks Line the River,
And the Gravel's Washed With Time,
Lurks the Lunker Bass Awaiting,
For your Sporting Hook and Line."

The bottom edge of each negative shows a partial inscription to Joe Domerhausen and Sid's authorship "S" is in the lower right corner.
