Pipestone quarries are found in Barron, Rusk and Sauk Counties in Wisconsin. Native Americans favored the soft stone, which hardened upon exposure, for making pipes. This image was used in a lantern slide presentation by Joseph Wojta on the history of Native American agriculture and traditions. |
