This map shows geographic regions of the entire state. The bottom left corner includes an "Explanation of Color": Laurentien Granite (pink), Huronian Iron-bearing Series (white and pink stripes), Copper-bearing Series (white and pink polka dots), Lower Magnesium Limestone (brown), St. Peters Sandstone (yellow), Potsdam Sandstone (white and yellow stripes), Trenton & Galena Limestone (blue), Cincinnati Shale (white and blue stripes), Hamilton Cement Rock (white and blue polka dots), Niagara Limestone (pink and blue stripes). A caption reads: "NOTE: Many small isolated area of the several formations are necessarily omitted and the outlines are only approximate." Lake Michigan is shown on the far right and Lake Superior is shown at the top of the map. Cities, counties, rivers, and lakes are labeled. |
