A well-dressed man is standing on the bank of the Montello River just below the dam, which was owned and operated by the Montello Granite Company. On the opposite side of the river are the Granite Company buildings, including the long polishing shed. The printed description reads, "Polishing Shops — Dr. Lange of Pittsburg [sic], Penn." J. Chris Lange was the Dean of the Medical Department of Western University of Pennsylvania (later the University of Pittsburgh) in the early twentieth century.
DESCRIPTION
