A block of text on the map reads "Survey of a portion of the line called for by the 5th article of the Treaty of Prairie du chien of the 19th August 1825. beginning half a days march below the falls on Chippaway River and passing Red Ceder River immediately below the falls &c &c under instructions of the Superintendent of Indian Affairs at St. Louis of April 23rd 1835 and agreeable to contract of same date by Jon L. Bean Surveyor of Indian boundary lines."
