Map or Atlas
Village of Leicester, Dane Co., Wis.
This map shows the blocks and streets that make up the village, and includes the Baraboo Air Line Railroad which cuts through the village at a diagonal from the lower right towards the upper left. Spring Creek marks the northern border on this map. The bottom of the map contains three blocks of hand written script, one of which is signed by L. Drake, the county surveyor of Dane County and dated December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd 1870. This block certifies that the map is correct, and establishes the location of the village within Wisconsin. The other block of script states the that undersigned owners of the shown plats of land verify that the map is correct, and has been "surveyed in accordance with our design and instructions." The third block of script is more difficult to read. |
