Caption at the bottom of the frame reads: "Suzy nee Elvira Dambry. A long time Williamson Street resident, since 1950, Suzy remembers poignantly what used to be where and sometimes why. 'Over there used to be a drug company. Then it was something else and then it was torn down. That corner bar used to be where the Elks Club is now.' And a bar once owned by various Ronnies and Larrys. That's the way it is, she says. 'I've lived here too long. But the street has gotten rough in the last two and a half years. Rape. Robbery,' she observes. 'Now we've got too many violent people. I'm not in the street after 7 o'clock. I'm scared. The trouble is, I guess, too many people out of work, nothing to do. It's why this country is going to hell.'" |
