ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The main house at Black Point was built by Chicago brewer Conrad Seipp in 1888. Seipp died in January, 1889. His widow, Catherine Orb Seipp, owned the estate until her death in 1920. The recipient of this postcard was Seipp's grandson, Ernst Conrad Schmidt. The message on the reverse reads, "Three cheers for the "Commodore" and three cheers for the commodore's wife and children. Greetings from one of the former Ellias Crew -" Ernst's father, Dr. Otto L. Schmidt was a commodore of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club and also served as commodore of the Inland Lake Yachting Association from 1914 until 1935.
