Caption on the bottom of the frame reads: "A self described 'Jane of all trades,' Karen Jaster now makes her living as a house painter although she's been a zoo attendant, a waitress, you name it. 'I rescue stray animals in my spare time. I gave up on stray people because they rip you off. They steal everything that's not bolted down. I'm just a philosopher without a country.' Karen considers herself a part of Williamson Street after 8 years in the neighborhood. 'I worked at Dolly's for 5 years. I was protege of Mona's for awhile. Everyone knows Mona,' she says." |
