A typed note attached to the back of the photo reads: "I am sending you a photograph of a very handsome former governor. I hope some day you will have the honor of representing the State of Wisconsin in a similar position. With Kindest regards, I am very truly yours, A.G. Schmedeman." O.S Loomis is most likely Orland Steen Loomis, a state senator of Wisconsin. He ran for governor in 1940, lost, then ran again in 1942. While Loomis won the 1942 election, he died of a heart attack a month before taking office. |
