At the Launching
A family group poses on the occasion of the launching of the yacht "Mystery" at Geneva Lake. They are, from left, Alma Schmidt Petersen; Alfred Fridolin Madlener; Conrad Petersen in front of his grandmother, Emma Seipp Schmidt; Dr. Reuter; Elsa Seipp Madlener with Edward Petersen in front; Mrs. Madlener (Alfred's mother), partially obscured; and an unidentified nurse holding the infant William O. Petersen. Several members of the party wave forty-eight star United States flags. The yacht and its rigging are discernible in the background. Emma and Elsa were daughters of Conrad Seipp, Chicago brewer and founder of Black Point Estate. William O. Petersen donated the estate to the State of Wisconsin in 2005. |
