In 1939 the Bendix Trophy, the long distance race from Los Angeles to Cleveland, was won by Frank Fuller in a SEV-S2, a precursor of the World War II era fighter planes. The program cover, however, illustrates the more popular closed-course Thompson Trophy race which was won by Roscoe Turner. |
