Town of Fitchburg Voters Get a Look at Old Ballot Box

Town of Fitchburg voters vote at the new $40,000 town hall, 2733 S. Fitch Hatchery Road, for the first time using voting machines. Voters also received a look at a ballot box used by Fitchburg voters before Wisconsin became a state, displayed by John Fluckiger, Jr., town board chairman. Newspaper clippings found inside the box indicate that it was used in 1843. The new town hall was built attached to the existing town garage located at the current Bjorksten Place intersection with S. Fish Hatchery Road but is no longer located at the address. |
