Madison Art Association 's Galleries Featuring "Banners U.S.A."

Many patrons of the arts gathered in the former Lincoln School, 720 East Gorham Street, for the gala opening night of the Madison Art Association's galleries in the new Madison Art Center. "Banners U.S.A." was a featured display. It is a collection of hangings by contemporary artists which originated during the New York newspaper strike when artists designed large flags to hang outside the gallery to announce their exhibits. |
