Fort Atkinson Students Stage "Patriotism-Fitness" Show
Governor John W. Reynolds lights the "torch of liberty" at the State Capitol for a team of cross-country runners from Fort Atkinson High School, who carried the torch by relay from Madison to their high school stadium. The freedom flame's arrival at Fort Atkinson marked the opening of a pageant dramatizing the need for physical fitness and glorifying the ideals of liberty and the interdependence of nations. The pageant planned as a tribute to the physical fitness program urged by the late President John F. Kennedy included physical education demonstrations and a concert of patriotic songs by the school choirs. |
