Christmas Tree Stand
Close-up view of a mechanical rotating Christmas tree stand which has been elevated and incorporated into a winter scene. The key to wind the mechanism is seen in profile on the right top portion of the stand, which also contained a music box. A metal cup to hold the trunk of a tree would fit over the center spike. The scene beneath includes cardboard buildings, small artificial trees, and miniature figures of horse-drawn sleighs. Artificial snow and icicles enhance the scene, which is enclosed by a picket fence. A simple wooden stool supports the scene. Such scenes around a Christmas tree are a German tradition. |
