This map shows wards, sections, roads, lot and block numbers, subdivisions, and proposed streets. The inside cover includes hand written annotations that read: "Map of the 5th, 8th, 11th, 12th wards of the city of Milwaukee. Milwaukee, Jany 16th, 1879, Theodore D. Brown, dep. county surveyor". An additional handwritten annotation in red reads: "Note: Stone Monuments are marked thus: (red dot)". A typed note is pasted in the inside cover as well: "Map book of Theodore D. Brown, C.E. He was the earliest city engineer of the city of Milwaukee. Under the direction the original Govt pier, the watertower, the Kilbourn Park reservoir, the old Grand Ave. viaduct and the earliest sewage system of that city were built."
