Born in Germany, Frederick Pabst emigrated to Chicago with his parents in 1848. By the age of 21, he was a steamboat captain on the great lakes. In 1862 he married Maria Best, daughter of successful Milwaukee brewer Phillip Best. By 1873 Pabst was president of the brewery which later bore his name. See also Image ID: 91156. |
