Morris Rubin, Editor of The Progressive
An informal portrait of Morris Rubin sitting at his desk, decked with a glass ashtray, pack of cigarette and matchbook, rotary-dial telephone and papers. Since 1940, Rubin has been the editor of The Progressive, a liberal magazine published in Madison. The magazine was founded 55 years earlier (1909) by Robert La Follette, Sr. The year this photograph was taken, the publication had subscribers in 116 countries, and was exerting international influence. |
