Horace Griswold Bliss
A cased daguerreotype of Horace Griswold Bliss, purported to be Madison's first pharmacist. Subject is seated, looking forward, bent to the right at a 3/4 angle, left elbow on table and left hand on brow. A book and bowl stand on the table behind his left arm. Bliss moved to Madison in 1847 and operated Bliss Drug Store until 1849 when he sold his store and moved with his family to Jackson, Michigan. |
