No Seat Belts Worn in Car Accident
Elsie Neerland, Deerfield, suffered multiple face and head cuts when hitting the windshield in a car accident. Her husband was driving the 1963 Comet when it crashed with a 1963 Ford. The accident happened at Dutch Mill corners, Highway 12-18 and 51. None of the passengers or driver in the Neerland car was wearing seat belts. The driver of the other car, Robert Griffith and his wife Charlotte were both wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries. Madison police, whose squad car label is shown reflected in the rear view mirror of Neerland's car, issued Griffith a ticket for failing to yield the right-of-way when he made a left turn in front of the Neerlands. |
