ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Original caption [edited for length]: "Photographs of Rice Harvesting Equipment Taken in New Orleans Territory October, 1943. The machine shown in the accompanying illustrations was at work in a big field of rice on the 3000-acre farm operated by A.M. Moore, near Oberlin, in southwestern Louisiana. International Harvester's recently announced Model 123-SP self-propelled, one-man, one-engine, 12-foot combine is now being equipped with deep-lugged rubber tires and other special equipment for harvesting rice.... The operator is up where he can always look ahead and carefully watch the feeder, the two open-end augers which bring the grain to the feeder in the middle, and the cutter bar, all of which are directly in front of him. Narrow, over-all width makes it possible to travel over highways, through gates, and across bridges without removing the reel or making any adjustment except for raising the platform."
