Lone Rock and Helicopter

A helicopter hovers over the crowd at an air show marking the dedication of the Lone Rock Airport as a local government facility. Because of its location at the intersection of two mail routes, a tiny airport was established at Lone Rock during the 1920s. In 1954 the Civil Aeronautics Administration relinquished control and operations were taken over by Sauk, Richland, and Iowa counties. |
