Map of 1821 Borough of Prairie du Chien
This map is pen-and-ink on tracing paper with a mounted legend and shows the Kickapoo River, Indian mounds, the 1st Fort Crawford, an Indian Agency, the site of the Great Council 1825, a jail house, a French cemetery, an old school house, the American Fur Company, the cabin in which Registre Gagnier was murdered, cabin homesteads, the Rolette grist mill, La Point & Hall’s ferry, Maj. Stephen Harriman Long’s voyage route and camp, the route used by soldiers in boats from Fort Crawford to carry Maj. S. Long’s equipment, and an old Indian village. Relief is shown by hachures. The bottom margin reads: "Campus Service, 1402 N. Paulina St., Chicago 22, Ill.." |
