Six prominent German American brewers pose outdoors, seated around a table, for a portrait labeled "The Poterhouse [sic] Club." Well-dressed in suits and hats, the men are identified by last name. They include, from left, Philip Bartholomae, president of Bartholomae and Leicht Brewing Co. of Chicago; Christian Magnus, owner of Eagle Brewery and Bottling Works of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one of the three Ernst brothers (C. Emil, Leo or Otto) of the Ernst Brothers Brewery of Chicago; Conrad Seipp, founder and president of Conrad Seipp Brewing Co. of Chicago; Joseph Theurer, owner of Schoenhofen Brewing Co. of Chicago, and Michael Brand of Michael Brand Brewing Co., Chicago. Seipp wears a top hat; the others wear fedoras. There is a large cast iron urn behind Seipp.
