Folder title: "Cars and Trucks: Scout Traveler (AD-40589-E)" From Jim Allen: "Warn Lock-o-Matic hubs were offered as an option on four-wheel drive Scout IIs from '71-80. They had two positions, 'FREE' or 'LOCK' which allowed the hubs to freewheel until four-wheel drive was engaged. The torque input from the axle engaged friction pads and then they would lock automatically. They would unlock when four-wheel drive was disengaged or sometimes on severe compression braking (which was an undesirable characteristic). When in the LOCK position, they were fully locked and would not disengage unless done manually." |
