Original caption: "Australia is the the midst of extensive expansion and development. large coal, mineral and timber resources, not previously tapped, are being utilized. Hydro-electric and other power projects under construction will more than treble the supply of electricity for industry and the further electrification of rural areas. Waters from major irrigation and hydro-electric schemes will make productive millions of acres of land now desert, hug land clearing project are further adding to agricultural production. Extensive development of harbours, and improvements to rail, road, and air networks, now in progress, will assist the transport services to handle the ever-growing volume of goods. Pictorially represented here are some of the principal primary activities in Australia and important developmental projects which are under consideration of construction, or are currently being enlarged or improved. |
