TD-24 Crawler Tractor and Bullgrader
A TD-24 Tractor and bullgrader seen clearing a road. A man is seen driving tractor pushing dirt out of the way. Original caption reads: "This 180-H.P. giant, an International TD-24 Crawler Tractor and Bullgrader, is clearing a road on Australia's greatest engineering scheme, the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric project in the Alps of south-eastern Australia. Over 15-25 years, men and giant machines will construct seven major dams and sixteen power stations. Additional electric power will become available to industry as each section of the project is completed, until the planned 2,620,000 Kiiowatts of energy are produced, more power than is now generated throughout the whole of Australia. This power will bring widened scope for expanding industry and advantages of urban life not previously enjoyed in the "outback" regions. Further, by diversion of its power-producing waters, millions of acres of now barren land will be irrigated and brought into food production." |
