From Jim Allen: "Development of the International Scout took place on two levels. Early on Royalite (a type of plastic) body was envisioned and later the high costs of production drove them to a more conventional steel body. The material used dictated the design, so the design changed when the construction material did. This rendering is from February 17, 1959, and was done by head stylist Chuck McGrew. It shows one concept based on using Royalite. Initially, the Scout was intended to be mainly a compact pickup/utility vehicle." |
