Original caption: "The EPA has certified the new International 6.9 liter diesel engine for all ratings of 170-hp. and below for 50 states through 1984. Production began in August, 1982 for the new 6.9 liter at International Harvester's Indianapolis, Indiana, engine manufacturing facilities. IH will supply a substantial number of the new engines to Ford Motor Company for 1983 heavy-duty pickup trucks and vans. The International 6.9 liter diesel is a naturally-aspirated V8 that develops 170 hp. at 3300 rpm. ED-76. Photo#EF-5504 8/31/82." |
