Original caption reads: "For Release December 21, 1973. International Trucks Expands Springfield Operation. Springfield, Ohio. International Harvester Company has announced the purchase of a stamping plant here to expand its manufacture of truck body components. Plans call for the new facility to turn out frame cross members, cab stampings, header panels and small parts. A total of 66 parts, formerly purchased from outside sources, now will be produced at the new plant. Located on a 13-acre plot in southwest Springfield, the property consists of seven buildings totaling more than 50,000 sq. ft. available for manufacturing, warehousing and office space. It formerly belonged to Boise Cascade Company. Equipment included with the Stamping Plant are 13 large presses, ranging in size from 45 to 1,000 tons; two cranes, one five-tons, the other a 15 ton model, welders; washers; lift trucks; drills; and grinders. A total of 110 persons will be employed at the plant on a three-shift, five-day schedule when operations begin in December, 1973. TD-3732. 12/19/73." |
