From Jim Allen: "1962 Scout 80 with Springfield Fire Truck Conversion. This conversion from the Springfield Equipment Company (Springfield, Ohio) was announced by International on June 8, 1962 as an approved conversion. It was intended as a first response or brush rig. It mounted a 100 gallon tank with a 100 foot, 1-inch diameter hose reel and a Hale fire pump powered by a 4 hp single cylinder gasoline engine and with a 25 suction hose for filling the tank. Standard equipment also included a siren, rotating light, rear step bumper, axes, shovels, portable extinguishers, a brush guard and other accessories. Optional was a ladder and ladder rack, PA system, spot and flood lights and 110 volt AC generator. This Scout is also mounting a set of split rim heavy duty wheels, an unusual accessory for Scouts." |
