From Jim Allen: "Shown in the foreground is a 1975 Scout II Cab-Top in Glacier Blue with Deluxe exterior trim and an optional rocker stripe. In the background is a Deluxe Traveltop, with the Two-Tone option using Flame Red over Alpine White. For 1975, International announced the Scout XLC 'Xtra Load Capacity.' Scout had their GVW (Gross Vehicle Weights) increased to 6,200 lbs. by making the heavy duty springs and axle standard. Marketing pitched this as a big improvement but, in fact, it put Scouts in a truck weight class and avoided the requirement for catalytic converters. At least until 1979, when the GVW limit was upped and the Scout was caught up in it." |
