Robert M. La Follette, Sr.
Presidential campaign photo of Robert M. La Follette, Sr. standing up in the back of a convertible automobile with an American flag behind him. His automobile is surrounded by a huge crowd of pedestrians. A police escort on horseback is providing security. In the background is a large multistory building with many windows and ornate decorations over the doors. To the right of the photograph in the scrapbook is written, "Let My People Go! Exodus 5-1." This photo was published by the Chicago Tribune with the caption "Chicago Admirers of Senator La Follette Greet Him On His Last Public Visit To City. This picture was taken at State and Madison streets in October of last year when the Wisconsin senator visited the city during the last weeks of the presidential campaign, speaking to big crowds." |
