The debut of the sporty SSII Scout for 1977 coincided with Internationals announcement to sponsor several desert racing teams. Jimmy Jones had attracted International attention in 1972 by winning his class in that year's Baja 1000 race in Mexico. By 1977, he had been signed up to be sponsored by International, to be followed by three other drivers into 1977. He was introduced to the Dealers at the January, 1977 debut of the SSII in Chandler, Arizona, where this portrait was taken." |
