"Stuff the Scout" on Tri-State College campus. Top image shows men 'stuffed' in an International Harvester Scout. Bottom photograph shows a woman sitting on front of Scout, which hood open. Men stand around her and the truck. Original caption reads, "Photograph W-5932-- Students at Tri-State, Angola, Indiana, may have come up with the newest "stuffing craze. When International harvester company visited the campus as part of its college relations program, a "stuff the Scout" contest emerged. The unit, customized to include python snakeskin inside and a bright pink-yellow-grey "flower-power" exterior pattern, bulged with 22 Tri-State students. The customized Scout was displayed all day on the campus with pretty Mary Kleinichert, a secretary in the specification department of IH's Fort Wayne Engineering Department, on hand to to answer questions. Here she shows the new V8 193-hp standard Scout engine to a group of students from the mechanical Engineering Society, which sponsored the International Harvester Day at Tri-State. The program concluded with a talk by David O. Harold, assistant product development engineer, covering the trucking industry and activities at International. The program is being conducted at other schools as well., including Purdue and Valparaiso universities. MT-3282." |
