International Harvester fire-fighting Scout. Front-left view. Original caption reads: "Photograph MQ-535-- A fire-fighting adaptation of International popular utility vehicle, the Scout is now available. the all-wheel drive model's fire-fighting apparatus includes a water tank with up to 75 gals. capacity, 8-1/4-hp. 4-cyle water pump, 100 ft. of 1-in. 2-ply 200-Ib.-test hose with an adjustable fog nozzle, 6 dry-chemical type fire extinguishers, a 12-ft. aluminum ladder, axes, shovels, brooms and buckets. Also a part of this Scout adaptation are a steel mesh grille guard, extra underside radiator protection, oversize 7.60x15 tires, revolving light, underhood siren, and hardware to hold the fire-fighting equipment in place. The 100-in.wb.Scout is powered by a 93 hp. 4-cyl. International engine. The enclosed cab seats 3 persons. MT-2342. CR-1146-D." |
