Sixth plate daguerreotype of Rosellah Smith (Donnel) Bowman. Mrs, Bowman was married to Samuel Hunter Donnel, architect, from 1854 to 1860. Samuel and Rosellah had one daughter Minnie or Mina. She married John Bowman 3 years after Donnel's death. This portrait was taken either before or at the time of her marriage to Samuel. The portrait is a half figure wearing floral print dress, shown facing front, looking off-center to the right. Her bent left elbow is resting on a cloth covered table with books, with her left hand resting on her left ear. She is wearing fingerless gloves. Hand-coloring on cheeks.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The portraits of Samuel (Image ID: 106095) and Rosellah were taken at the same time. The fabric in his vest is the same as that of her dress. It is likely that these were taken for their wedding. (See Image ID: 109328 of daughter). Nonpareil mat. Burnt velvet decoration inside cover. Stamped leather case.
